Baby's Room Ideas - in the beginning there were clean floors . . .

The basic foundation of kids decor like walls, floors and windows can carry you through several years without having to make major changes. Making a few simple adjustments to the decor as your baby grows keeps the room fresh. This article has good kid bedroom ideas basics, even if your child is older. Here are some ideas to get you started thinking 'long term' when it comes to baby nursery decorating, which is where it all really starts.
Kid's Bedroom Ideas - beyond the baby.

If you're past the nursery decorating stage, and are looking for information for toddlers to preteens, decorating kid's rooms covers both girls and boys.
Teen Rooms - they're not kids anymore!

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten the teenagers! Teens are a whole other matter! Right? So here's the teen room decorating information page, with some kid bedroom ideas for teens to use for planning with their futures in mind and making their rooms more like apartments.......their own private places.
There's a page for the teenage girl's rooms, and also a special section for the teen boy's room, and some ideas for 'working together' in your kids room decorating project.
Window Treatments. . . . . . .Ideas you can use!

Kid's curtains and other window treatments can be one of the most costly and difficult decorative items when it comes to decorating kid's rooms ideas. Here you'll find some quick and easy window treatment ideas that will add that custom look to your kids decor.
Decorating with a Kid's Bedroom Theme . .

Kid's Bedroom Themes can really be a lot of fun! The kids can pick their own theme, and feel they have had a hand in their own room decor, which makes it more "their room". There are may choices of theme items, such as bedding, lamps, chidrens rugs, wall decor, wallpaper, border and murals, drawer knobs, child furniture and on and on!
The kids room themes page will give you some kid bedroom ideas and tips on how to make choices from the long list of bedroom theme items and still keep the project manageable and within a reasonable budget! I try not to label rooms as specifically boys or girls since many of the themes can be used by both, so they are all listed on one page. Some themes last longer than others, but that doesn't mean your child's interest will last as long as the theme does!
Read the nursery decorating article first to see how you can start with a room foundation that you build upon as your child grows, easily morphing the room from theme to theme.
Finally! A true resource for kid's bedroom ideas.
Decorating your child's bedroom every two or three years can get to be expensive and time consuming. With a little planning ahead and some simple kid bedroom ideas, you can save money and time whether you are a do-it-yourself person or not. Even if you choose to use a decorator or designer to do your decorate your kid's room, you can save by asking them to follow a few simple guidelines from this kid bedroom ideas resource.

For example:
Window treatments don't really get a lot of wear and tear. So you could spend a little more here when decorating a child's bedroom and get the best quality you can afford. Just keep in mind that you should choose a treatment that is solid, plaid, stripe or some other neutral pattern so when you update the bedroom, you can work with these.
The same might be said for bedskirts, but I've often seen them hanging down because the mattress scoots around, and then they get stepped on and torn. So use your own judgement here for your kid's decor. You might consider having the bedskirt a little shorter than the norm so it's about an inch or inch and a half off the floor.
It could be attached to the box springs or side rails with Velcro or snaps, or attached to a fitted sheet that slips over the box springs so it stays in place better.
Using NON-theme specific wall treatments (paint, faux finishes, wallpaper) and bedding will allow your child to add their own special touches such as posters, pillows, their own artwork and other accents that ARE in their theme of choice. . . . . . And as fast as they change their minds and themes change and fads move on, this will be a very important point when you are considering various kid bedroom ideas to use.
A couple more kid bedroom ideas:
If you're going to have any upholstered furniture in there, you might consider using slipcovers. (You might want to use them in your living area until they get a little older as well.) These can easily be removed and washed. . . . . .

It also makes it easy to redecorate by replacing the slipcovers and they will save the original upholstery, or hide the uglies if you are using recycled child bedroom furniture!

If you want to let your child express his creativity, buy a solid slipcover and let him paint a design on it with fabric paints. This can be done free hand, with stencils or stamps, and also with that fabric paint that you spray and it splats. (Just follow the instructions on the paint container.)

Be sure to check out all the articles, as you will find even more kid bedroom ideas on each page. And if you need help with a specific problem or challenge with your own kid bedroom ideas, just send me a quick email and we'll see what we can come up with together!
